I took a break from blogging, but I missed it! It had become such a rooted part of me, that I found it impossible not to keep composing my life into blog-sized paragraphs. But I wanted to try something a little bit different, without Julie being the main focus.
As this picture suggests, one of the things I missed was writing more about domesticity, and about the ordinary every day things in my life. As I said in my last post, Julie's illness has not magically receded, but it has slowly become integrated into the daily fabric of our lives. So I might still be measuring out her medication, but I will be doing it while cooking dinner; there might be a care planning meeting, but I'll fit it in before I go to the gym with her; there are still emergency visits to a&e, but I've learned to take a book. One of the things I have learned from reading other mother's blogs is the almost infinite number of ways that so many mothers find to manage the unmanageable. I guess it is that resilience that I want to celebrate in my next blog.
Oh and bread - there will definitely be lots about bread in the next blog.
Thanks to all my loyal readers of JuliesMum for their wonderful support! If you want to read on, you are more than welcome to join me at http://womanunadorned.wordpress.com.
I will still be following all the blogs I used to, plus a few new ones. Don't be surprised if I comment on your blog under my new (Wordpress) identity of Jane Plain. It's still me, JuliesMum!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back and I do know what you mean about integrating special needs into your life - I've done it with one child, still getting accustomed to number 2. I hope you'll still post here occasionally too xx
ReplyDeleteI think I might - I keep finding things that JuliesMum ought to be saying! Here's to parenting our different children, and all the things they teach us!
